Abi completed a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Neuroscience and Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology and a Master of Biotechnology at the University of Toronto. She then spent ten years in the pharmaceutical advertising space as a Content Strategist. After creating successful messaging campaigns and winning multiple pitches, she decided to return to her primary interest of human psychology. She is currently completing her Master of Divinity majoring in Clinical Counselling at Tyndale University, working towards her registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). For her internship, she has joined the team at Danielle Counselling.
With her background in marketing communication, Abi values the importance of listening. She truly believes each person’s path is unique and with someone coming alongside them, in a nonjudgemental, empathetic manner, they are free to explore and find solutions that fit their lives. She considers it a privilege to invite clients into a safe space and listen to their life stories. She is genuinely interested in the growth of her clients of any age and facilitating improvements in their relationships.
Abi has been married for over ten years and cultivated new skills in the past few years while supporting her husband establish his small business. She formerly taught piano and is eager to integrate art as part of her therapeutic approach, especially in her work with children. Based on her previous roles, Abi is interested in working with children and adolescents as they grow and find their unique identity in the world. She and her husband are currently helping a new church plant, consisting primarily of new immigrants. To wind down, Abi enjoys listening to audiobooks while knitting or crocheting.
